Dr. Terri-Lyn Castillo, Ph.D

Assistant Director

Dr. Terri-Lyn joined Montessori Children’s Center in February 2018 as head teacher of the Infant Cove room, then became assistant director. Prior to joining MCC, she worked as an Infant Head teacher at a Montessori school in Brooklyn, NY. A beloved leader of our community, she now assists our guides and helps our families on their Montessori journey.

A true Montessorian who embodies a love of learning, Dr. Terri-lyn earned her Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education from National University. She also holds a Master of Early Childhood Education (GCU), a Master of Education (American Continental University), a Bachelor of Science (SUNY Empire), and an Associate of Science (SUNY Cobleskill).

Deeply rooted in her training for her Montessori Infant and Toddler credential (WSMS), Dr. Terri-Lyn uses her experience and knowledge to support Montessori practice and methodology here at MCC. She brings an infectious warmth, patience, and joy that puts both children and adults at ease. A true Montessorian, she lives and breathes the Montessori philosophy personally and professionally. Every day, you can see her guiding children toward independence and deep concentration and helping them discover their own sense of agency and connection to others. She has a rare gift for building deep, meaningful relationships, making her a truly invaluable and beloved member of our community.

  • Certifications: American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid and CPR, and NYOCFS-approved MAT certified.
  • Training: 5-hour Foundations of Health and Safety training (SUNY Albany); “In Focus 13-hour Infant and Toddler Symposium” (AMS, Fall 2020). March 2021 and March 2023 AMS Conferences, plus March 2025 and March 2026 AMS Learning professional development.
  • Membership: Member of the American Montessori Society.
  • Personal: Mother of a child who attends MCC.
